The prophet Jeremiah thought he had legitimate reasons for carrying negative thoughts when he wrote the book of Lamentations, but suddenly he realized he was engaged in a battle for control of his mind. He could rehearse the negatives or he could begin to hope. He could dare to hope! Then his darkness turned to light—the light of hope. He seemed amazed at himself when he said:

“Yet I still dare to hope!”
